Reasons for being an EDA member

It allows us to…

..Have a Ringing sub-committee that promotes:

• The opportunity to practice various methods from doubles through to maximus, including treble and covering, at events that may not be possible at local tower practices.

• Coordination of the opportunity to ring quarter peals and peals with ringers drawn from over all districts where individual towers may not have enough ringers to do so.

• Coordination of all types of ringing and local training sessions to allow all ringers to constantly improve, whatever their ability giving guidance and support where required. 

..Have a Ringing and Recruitment team that provides funding for:

• Recruitment, training, bell ropes, ringing books to any tower in the EDA.

• Young ringer activities throughout the EDA

• Attendance at ART training courses, training the next generation of ringing teachers and other required training.

• The maintenance of the EDA mobile bell and banners, that are available for recruitment events throughout the EDA.

..Have our Admin Sub-committee that ensures:

• Members are suitably insured for any ringing activity, including minor maintenance.

• We have an annual report that records the EDA activities and provides a handbook for members.

• We have oversight of webpages, Facebook groups and Facebook pages and that run our membership software.

• Our rules and regulations are followed ensuring correct policies, and procedures are in place, including essential safeguarding processes.

• Our finances (including the finances of our registered charity, the BRF) follow recommended financial procedures.

..Bell Maintenance Sub-committee provides:

• Trustees to oversee the BRF (Bell Restoration Fund) and provide grants for bell installation improvements.

• Advice to tower steeple keepers, PCCs, and tower captains on bell installations and local bell-related improvement opportunities.

• Permissible repairs to EDA bell installations by competent volunteers.

• Bell installation inspections, on request, providing appropriate feedback for PCCs, tower captains and for future improvements..
