The Association Safeguarding Policy

The Ely Diocesan Association of Church Bell Ringers acknowledges its duty of care, to guard against any form of abuse to children, young people and adults whilst attending Association and District ringing events.
The Association shall:
Appoint a Safeguarding Officer to be a resource for ringers within the Diocese and to review Association safeguarding policies and procedures annually
Encourage Officers of the Association and all Ringing Members to understand the importance of safeguarding and child protection.
Encourage ringers within the Diocese to be aware of the safeguarding and child protection policies and procedures in their own churches.
Follow best practice guidelines in safeguarding at all Association and District events.
If necessary, report any allegations of abuse and seek advice from statutory agencies and from the Safeguarding Officer for the Diocese of Ely.
Communicate this policy to all Ringing Districts and parishes within the Diocese of Ely.
Note: Safeguarding and child protection during Sunday Service and tower practice ringing are the legal responsibility of each Parochial Church Council (PCC). All ringers should comply with safeguarding procedures of the PCC in towers where they ring.
